About

This is a blog that caters to all things nostalgic from the point of view of someone born in the 1980’s who did a lot of growing up in the 90’s.  Expect to read a lot about movies, television, video games, and music with a nostalgic theme, with some exceptions here and there.  Enjoy!

We’re not totally in sync (I’ve got you beat by a decade) but I love the idea for the blog.

    Hi,

recently came upon your blog in research for a Danzig ranking, would do you have to tell about the duet with Melissa Auf der Maur?

Hi, not a whole lot. I know she’s a fan and requested he sing on “Father’s Grave.” I believe Danzig referred to it as his first, official, duet and he has since gone on to record another with Cherie Currie (unreleased, but out there online). I have the Auf der Mar album, but I’m not really a fan. I tried to get into it, but it’s not my thing. “Father’s Grave” isn’t bad though. It’s a moody track and it plays to Danzig’s strengths.

        Hi Joe,

I`m from Germany and a huge fan since my teenage years. Many of your ratings appeals to me. Yes, “Skin Carver” is a lame opener. I´ve instead expected “Black Laden Crown” on the last concert, which was 2018 in Cologne, but they didn´t. With “Eyes Ripping Fire” and “Devil on Hwy 9” they´ve played the weaker tracks. The Original Misfits in Europe would be awesome, a Mini-Tour with London (Dungeon), Amsterdam, Germany, Vienna, Italy, but I don´t think they are gonna to this.

        Back to topic.

I like “Father´s Grave”, it´s a haunting, emotional song and you can hear that he´s really with passion into it (in fact the song was one of the reasons to buy this album). I think collaborations like that should have been an interesting way for future projects. “Some Velvet Morning” starts allright, but I don´t like this rock pipe voice of Cherie Currie, it really destroys the mood and both a are singing apart from another, never really together like in the another one. There´s not arising a conncection and the song doesn´t work as a duet, although I like his frayed, but still powerful voice and the slight change of the lyrics. I can´t really follow what happened with the idea to work with Hank 3, why they don´t do that as some kind of home recording.

Are there plans to release the “Verotika” or “Death Rider in the House of Vampires” soundtracks? There is some new original music.

Reading the reviews has inspired me yestersay to grip my guitar and play “Let It Be Captured” again. “Snakes of Christ” and “777” are next.

Let´s see what´s happening with Danzig and around. I could imagine that Ryan Adams will follow up with his Danzig cover album.

If you ever head to Europe, visit the Giger Museum, it´s a blast.

Thanks! There’s so much Danzig content that there’s room for a lot of opinions. I just like being able to put mine out there without compromise.

I agree with you on “Some Velvet Morning.” Something wasn’t quite working for me with it. Still would have preferred if it made it into the record than not, but it’s not a great loss. I have not heard about a plan to release the soundtrack to either film. Cleopatra has been doing so many physical releases of other material so I wouldn’t rule it out. The lack of enthusiasm for releasing even the Death Rider movie though might not be a good indicator though.

You´re welcome. You´ve done a good work, better than some official reviews. You probably know that they recorded a Morricone cover for “Skeletons”, yet never did released. I´ve also once created a shirt design based on the Left Hand theme:
